GtipTakip is a SaaS platform I designed and developed to turn one of the most fragmented parts of international trade into a structured digital workflow: identifying the correct GTIP / HS classification for a product, evaluating its import cost, checking regulatory obligations and monitoring future changes.
The platform goes significantly beyond a tariff-code search engine. A product can become a persistent operational record containing its technical description, SKU or GTIN, classification candidates, confirmed GTIP, reasoning history, landed-cost calculations, compliance obligations, risk assessments, regulatory watchlists and generated outputs.
GtipTakip also supports professional workflows where hundreds or thousands of products need to be classified, reviewed and tracked across multiple clients. Bulk processing, queues, team permissions, client portfolios, API access, Telegram workflows and Model Context Protocol integrations extend the application beyond manual browser-based research.
Product classification affects much more than the code printed on a customs declaration. The selected tariff position can influence duties, additional measures, product-safety requirements, permits, surveillance rules and the final economic viability of an import transaction.
Yet the information required to make that decision is often distributed across tariff tables, regulatory publications, spreadsheets, product specifications, previous classifications and specialist knowledge.
Product names rarely map directly to one tariff code. Material, intended use, construction and technical properties can change the classification.
Tariff classifications, tax measures and compliance requirements originate from different datasets and regulatory documents.
Purchase price alone does not reveal landed cost. Origin, freight, insurance, duties and other applicable measures can materially change unit economics.
A classification confirmed today may later be affected by a new tax, surveillance measure, compliance requirement or tariff update.
Companies and professional service teams may need to process entire product catalogs, not individual searches one at a time.
A code without the evidence and reasoning behind it is difficult to review, correct or defend later.

The classification engine is designed around explainability rather than returning one unexplained code from an AI prompt.
Users can submit free-text product descriptions together with structured product attributes. The system normalizes the input, searches the tariff hierarchy, evaluates classification signals and returns a short ranked candidate set with confidence information and alternatives.

12-Digit GTIP
A customs classification platform should not ask a language model to search the entire tariff and treat its first answer as authoritative.
GtipTakip reduces the search space first. Hierarchical tariff relationships, lexical product terms, verified classification signals and previously governed knowledge are used to construct a relevant candidate pool. AI can then assist with reviewing that constrained context rather than inventing a code outside it.

Users can confirm or reject classification candidates. These decisions do more than update the current screen: they create signals that can improve future candidate retrieval.
Shared learning is intentionally governed. Workspace-specific evidence remains separated from shared knowledge, and reusable signals can pass validation before they influence broader classification behavior. This creates a feedback loop without treating every user click as automatically correct training data.
Classification is more useful when it belongs to a persistent product record. GtipTakip includes a product catalog where customs information can evolve together with the product's operational identity.
Product name, SKU, GS1/GTIN and technical description can be retained as stable business references.
Classification requests, candidates, confirmations, confidence and reasoning remain associated with the product.
Product classification can flow directly into saved landed-cost calculations.

Calculation snapshots retain the rules and source context used for each result. Unsupported or insufficiently verified rates can remain unavailable or require review instead of being presented as authoritative values.
Customs cost calculations need different engineering discipline from ordinary UI arithmetic. Values can depend on origin, date, rule version and several sequential tax components.
Monetary, rate, quota and quantity logic avoids uncontrolled floating-point calculations.
Saved calculations retain their inputs and resolved component context for later review.
Supported tax and compliance rules can be evaluated against their effective period instead of assuming the latest value applies historically.
A result can retain the source version or evidence behind the rule used to calculate it.
The same GTIP that drives customs calculation may also trigger product-safety, permit or trade-policy requirements. GtipTakip resolves supported compliance rules into actionable obligations.
Obligations can be converted into saved checklists with status tracking, creating an operational bridge between tariff research and the work that must be completed before an import proceeds.

When stronger evidence is appropriate, existing classification and product information can be used to generate an editable BTB preparation draft, including the proposed classification, risk summary, product information, attention points and missing evidence.
The generated package is decision-support material, not an official binding classification.
Product classification is not a one-time data-entry problem. Businesses need to know when a tariff code they already use is affected by a new classification, tax or compliance development.

The important distinction is that an AI assistant does not receive unrestricted database access. Existing authentication, workspace membership, roles, quotas and product rules continue to govern what the MCP client can see or execute.

GtipTakip is designed as a commercially operable SaaS product. Subscription plans do not simply change a label on the billing page; plan capabilities are enforced across user interfaces, background jobs and APIs.
Add-on purchase records, billing profiles, payment notifications, receipt uploads, invoices and usage history provide the supporting commercial workflow. The current implementation intentionally keeps real automated payment-provider integration separate from the completed operational SaaS billing foundation.
Large imports, classification jobs, reports, exports, regulatory scans and notifications are not appropriate workloads for long synchronous HTTP requests.
The platform uses queue-oriented execution so expensive operations can run asynchronously with retry, failure and quota behavior separated from the browser lifecycle.
